Life is a beautiful rollercoaster ride. A phrase, that encompasses my journey and perhaps your own. Through the highs and lows, you and I get to decide how we experience this beautiful and chaotic world. Life's moments can be difficult to face at times and there are times when events unfold in ways you had hoped were different. Perhaps you can relate to these next statements, I know that I can absolutely relate to them. I have at times felt the world is against me, I've lied to myself and those that I love, I underestimate my own abilities and who I can become in this world. In new and unfamiliar situations, I've felt the sense of fear crawl up my spin and envelope me like a suffocating blanket. When we alter our beliefs, we can alter our reality. At age 22 I began journaling which led me into the journey of self-awareness. Throughout my life I've had titles like camp counselor, Dj, event planner, social media conference organizer, speaker, author, and growth meditation guide. All of them have one commonality, me. I've never been the best writer or best speaker, but what I do have are my own unique thoughts, words, and voice. this uniqueness is a powerful positive mechanism when delivered from an energy of love and gratitude, however, it can also be lethal to growth and progress when delivered from an energy of fear or scarcity. The mind is powerful and also adaptable to the environment we construct for it. I discovered just how powerful the mind is through my own daily practice of meditation. The journey that led me to meditation came from a starting point of both desperation and curiosity. It began with desperation of needing to shift my mindset from pain and exhaustion each day to the feeling of connection and joy. Connection as well as collaboration are major themes in my life. I began to cultivate connection by having transformational one-on-one conversations with 150 people who were also in their twenties about the topics of self-discovery and self-awareness. During that time, I began to be curious with this phrase of living in the present. I began exploring this topic and came across an organization that has fundamentally altered and transformed my life that organization is called Mindvalley. Mindvally is an organization that to me represents an incredible beacon of light and I am so happy and inspired by their mission to unite people. I'd highly recommend checking out this organization if you believe in teaching wisdom to the world. Through this organization, I was introduced to meditation. Today meditation is a daily habit for my life. I am centered greatly by its work and effort in my life. At first I truly didn't realize just how much of an effect it had on my life. Each day I wake up to new hope and determination. Meditation has fundamentally altered the path of my life. I have been blessed and grateful for the opportunities to speak in front of hundreds of people on the power of being present and the importance of self-awareness. Through meditation I've embarked on a lifelong project of building a community focused on wellness, mindfulness, and growth called Growth Treats that gives you the opportunity to treat yourself to experiences that transform your life. The world we live in is full of opportunity but can also be full of despair. We as human beings get to decide how we perceive the world around us. Personally, I love to play in the world of positivity, love, and gratitude. As time continues to move by, I challenge you to continue on this amazing path of life with excitement and curiosity. You may be surprised by what you find on your path. Sending positive energy your way! RD Weeks |
